How many slates do I need to remove to fit each Solar Slate Plate?
Only 3 slates need to be removed for each Solar Slate Plate. The Solar Slate Plate has been designed to speed up installation times, allowing the installer to complete a 4KW install much quicker than having to cut the slates and make weatherproof with lead. It is possible to complete a 4KW system within 4hrs.
How many plain/rosemary tiles do I need to remove to fit each ERIC-TILE?
Only 4 tiles need to be removed to fit each ERIC-TILE. The ERIC-TILE has been designed to speed up installation times, allowing the installer to complete a 4KW install much quicker than having to cut the tiles and make weatherproof with lead. It is possible to complete a 4KW system within 4hrs.
Do I need to cut slates or tiles to fit the Solar Slate Plate's and ERIC-TILE to the roof?
No, the Solar Slate Plate and ERIC-TILE are designed to replace an existing slate or plain/rosemary tile on the roof. This saves on extra material costs of having to buy lead or mastic sealants to make weatherproof.
Do I need to use mastic or sealant to make the roof weatherproof?
No, the Solar Slate Plate and ERIC-TILE have been tested to MCS 012 standards for weather-tightness without the use of any mastics or sealants.
Can I stand on the mounting rail when installing the solar modules?
Yes, there is no point loading involved. The Solar Slate Plate has been designed to spread the load across the roof laths into the structural members of the roof.
The Solar Slate Plates are made from plastic, are they strong enough?
Yes they’re strong! It’s all in the design to maximise the Solar Slate Plates strength. Tested to MCS 012 standards for wind uplift, the Solar Slate Plate achieved a reading of 1.48KN for each individual plate.
Slates, come in many sizes, how many sizes do you cater for?
Solar Slate Plates come in 13 different sizes, so it’s more than likely we’ll have the option that’s right for you.
We use different mounting rail from job to job, can I still use your products if we use different mounting rails?
Yes, we provide a choice of 2 universal roof hooks for the Solar Slate Plate and 2 universal roof hooks for ERIC-TILE, to suit different mounting rails. Let us know your preferred mounting rail and we’ll provide the correct roof hook.
Do I need to buy the fixings to attach to the roof separately?
No, all fixings are included in the price of the kits for both the Solar Slate Plate and ERIC-TILE.
Do I need to buy extra slates or tiles in case I break some whilst using your products?
No, every Solar Slate Plate and ERIC-TILE you install into the roof gives you one spare slate or tile, so you will have plenty of spares. Also for natural slates there is a reclaim value of up to £2.00 for each slate, saving you even more money!
How are the Solar Slate Plates and ERIC-TILE delivered to me?
We send out the Solar Slate Plate and ERIC-TILE in boxes of 12 including desired brackets and all other fixings. Large orders will be sent on a pallet to reduce costs further.
Do you have any spare fixings?
Yes, we sell all of the fixings separately just in case you need extras. We also sell a spares kit with enough fixings for 3 Solar Slate Plates. Whilst we do supply enough fixings in the kit we do advise spares are purchased as the warranty will be void if the Solar Slate Plate is fitted without using all of the components supplied.
Are instructions provided?
Yes, instructions are included in each order you make. You can also download them from our website as well.
